2. Reading Information on the Order Book

2.1 The Order Book is divided into two sections, Working Orders (upper section) and Filled / Canceled orders (lower section).

2.2 The Working Orders section displays a color coded listing of the orders that are currently working in the markets for your account(s).

  • Buy Orders are shown with a green background
  • Sell Orders are shown with a red background
  • Multi-leg orders (MLEG) are given a green background if it was entered as a debit and a red background if entered as a credit.

2.3 MLEG line items are expandable. Click the plus sign icon to see the individual components of the multi-leg order.

2.4 The Filled / Canceled Orders section also color codes the order information for easy visual reference.

  • Filled Buy orders are shown with a green background
  • Filled Sell orders are shown with a red background
  • Canceled and rejected orders are shown with a grey background

2.5 Order Book Summary Lines

Total Working Orders

A summary of the NET number of working stock shares, option contracts, and futures contracts is shown in the lower bar of the Working Orders section.

These values represent the total working quantity for each respective security type. The following working orders would calculate on the summary bar as such: Example:

Field Description
Buy 1000 Shares MSFT = +1000 (Stock)
Sell 700 Shares NFLX = -700 (Stock)
Sell 10 Contracts .MSFT110618C25 = -10 (Option)
Buy 5 Contracts .QQQ110618C59 = +5 (Option)
Total Working Order Summary Line = 1700 (Stock) / 15 (Option) / 0 (Future)

This tells us our Order Book is working 1700 shares of stock and 15 option contracts.

Total Filled Orders

A summary of the NET number of filled orders of stock shares, option contracts, and future contracts is shown in the lower bar of the Filled / Canceled Orders section. This is for the current day only.
